Hands On Training Class at Warm Hearth, San Diego
August 6 - August 7
This technical training is geared towards individuals with a basic understanding of gas hearth appliances. We will be building on your existing foundation of knowledge and skills. You will earn 12 technical NFI / CSIA CEU’s when you attend the 2 full days.

- Gas Pipe Sizing
- Codes and Standards IFGC and NFGC
- Categorizing Gas Appliances
- Venting
- Millivolt Valves
Day 2
- Proper procedures for Service
- How-to with tools
- CO and its effects
- Fuel Conversion
- Interpreting Codes
- Basic Electricity
- Electronic Valves
- Review of Valves and controlling Voltage
- Troubleshooting
There will be class discussion with group interaction and real life scenarios. Individuals will demonstrate hands-on knowledge of the material taught and identify where more instruction may be needed. We will break into teams for an overview of all topics covered and class will demonstrate their knowledge upon completion.
Instructor Bio:
Russ Wold has spent the majority of his adult life in the Hearth Industry. He began his career as an installer and service tech, worked as a field rep, factory rep, store owner, independent rep and consultant. He began his official hearth career as a rep for the Earth Stove for 5 years followed by a 6 year stint as a store owner. He then returned as an independent rep and eventually a direct employee for Hearth and Home Technologies for a 16 year period. Most recently he is an independent factory rep for a number of manufacturers and has served for many years on the HPBA Pacific board of directors.
